Prior to joining NSIP, Dr. Han was a senior IP attorney for LyondellBasell Industries. LyondellBasell is one of the worldâ€™s largest plastics, chemical, and refining companies and a supplier of catalysts, as well as, a range of innovative materials for new age battery, covers, and components. There he was responsible for drafting original applications in chemical arts, prosecuting U.S. and foreign patent applications, performing validity studies and infringement evaluations.
Dr. Han also prepared transactional agreements including license agreements and joint development agreements. As an in-house counsel, he was further responsible for developing patent strategies, managing patent portfolios, and monitoring competitorsâ€™ patent activities. He advised companyâ€™s business managers, R&D managers, and scientists on IP issues.
Dr. Han has a unique blend of legal and technical expertise. While a research scientist at LyondellBasell Industries, he invented new catalysts and chemical processes, supervised commercial demonstration of new processes, and participated in technology exchanges and contract negotiations with alliance partners. Dr. Han is an inventor or co-inventor of 19 patents. He has also authored several publications and presented before professional meetings.
